Jessica Watson, RN
Healthcare Consultant

Jessica Watson, RN
Healthcare Consultant
Jessica is a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida with clinical experience in direct patient care since 2015. As a Windhorse I/O consultant, she combines expertise in the fields of nursing and health care with experience in education and science research from previous roles in environmental science and conservation. Raised by health care workers, she internalized the values of health equity early on, witnessing her father’s activism as an OBGYN for Planned Parenthood and her mother’s work as a nurse in a skilled nursing facility caring for elderly and disabled populations.
She has worked as a critical care nurse and operating room nurse in surgical oncology in south and central Florida. As a nursing student in Miami, she volunteered at a women’s shelter for victims of domestic violence and grew an awareness of public health issues impacting the southeast, such as human trafficking, poverty, and communicable diseases. Through her experiences in direct patient care, and as a healthcare consumer who experienced temporary disability, she became convinced of the need to empower people through community, patient, and caregiver-led healthcare, policy, and initiatives.
Jess holds degrees from the University of Connecticut (BS, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology), University of Miami (BSN, Nursing), and the University of South Florida (MFA, creative writing). In addition to her work as a nurse, she advocates for environmental protection, spreading the message that the conservation and restoration of natural spaces are inextricably linked to human health and wellbeing.
